Britney Speaks Out

In a Matt Lauer interview airing this week, Britney Spears dishes on the paparazzi, her marriage, and her parenting skills.

After months of criticism and invasive scrutiny, Britney has had enough with the tabloids.

Pop singer Britney Spears spoke with Matt Lauer in an interview at her home, ready to dispel rumors from the tabloids.

Spears denied reports of a failing marriage with husband Kevin Federline, calling their relationship "awesome."

"He helps me. He has to. I'm (an) emotional wreck right now," Spears said.

When asked about criticisms of her parenting skills, particularly the infamous photo of her driving with son Sean Preston on her lap, Spears said, "I know I'm a good mom.

"I did it with my dad. I'd sit on his lap and I drive. We're country."

Her message to the paparazzi?

"You have a life. And if you don't, you have to realize that we're people and that we...just need privacy and we need our respect. And those are things that you have to have as a human being."

Spears' interview will air Thursday on both "Today" and "Dateline."
