Screech hopes T-shirts will save his house

Saved By the Bell actor Dustin Diamond tries to raise money to prevent the loss of his house.

His glory days on the hit 90's sitcom "Saved By the Bell" long gone, Dustin Diamond is facing a foreclosure order on his house in Port Washington, Wis. But he plans to rally support from fans by selling T-shirts in an effort to raise the $250,000 he needs.

Diamond, who will forever enjoy a place in pop culture as the nerdy Screech, appeared on the Howard Stern show Tuesday asking fans to buy his T-shirts from www.getdtshirts.com. Diamond hopes to sell around 30,000 T-shirts priced at $15 each, or $20 for shirts with autographs.

"If the public didn't care, I as an entertainer wouldn't have been a success," Diamond said.

His home's land contract demands a $250,000 payment this month, a result of the bad credit record he had when he purchased the home in 2003. Diamond also filed for bankruptcy in 2001, with additional financial strain from his girlfriend's failed pregnancy last year.

Diamond currently works as a stand-up comic and finds acting roles every now and then, but said, "I just don't get paid $250,000 in 30 days.

"I'm doing great with my comedy, but this is definitely a low point. Real life comes in and affects you."
