100 pounds of muscle in 16 months? I'm impressed.

Thomas Haden Church was asked to gain 100 pounds of muscle for his role in "Spider-Man 3," he has revealed.
Church, who will be playing the villain Sandman, had only recently come out of his role in "Sideways," for which he had been asked to gain weight. He met with producers for "Spider-Man," who told him that he needed him "to get in a physical shape for the movie." He also said that director Sam Raimi told him "You've come here today with the physique of a fishwife and that doesn't fit into our scheme."
Church joked that he went from "a special cocktail of beer and ice cream" to "16 months of five days a week lifting weight and, all right... steroids!"
