Sopranos final season delayed due to Gandolfini's surgery
The actor needs knee surgery, so episodes scheduled for release in January are expected to air in March.
The final season of megabit "The Sopranos" has been delayed to allow James Gandolfini time to recover from knee surgery.
The actor, who plays mob patriarch Tony Soprano, fell from his scooter after an accident with a New York taxicab, which insiders claim is the cause of his injury, according to imdb.com. However, officially it has only been dubbed an "unexpected" surgery.
His recovery time will delay the series two months, but HBO chairman says it will be worth the wait: "I know the story lines for the final eight [episodes], and I am absolutely positively certain that when the curtain comes down on 'The Sopranos,' the vast majority of people will say it's one of the greatest things of all time."
