Julia Roberts joining Earth Biofuels in promoting cleaner energy sources.
Oscar-winning actress Julia Roberts has become the latest spokeswoman for Earth Biofuels, a company that develops and promotes renewable energy sources such as biodiesel and ethanol.
Roberts joins other stars endorsing the company's mission, including board of directors members Morgan Freeman and Willie Nelson.
"It's very important that we expand our use of clean energy and make a long-term commitment to it," Roberts says. "Biodiesel and ethanol are better for the environment and for the air we breathe."
In one of her first duties, Roberts will help advocate the implementation of biodiesel in the country's 500,000 diesel-powered school buses.
"The use of biodiesel is a positive step toward minimizing pollutive emissions and greenhouse gases," Roberts says. "By focusing on school buses, we can affect the health and well-being of the people most susceptible to that pollution – our children – today."
The actress won an Oscar in 2001 for her portrayal of Erin Brockovich, who similarly fought for an environmental cause.
