Steely Dan not a fan of "You, Me and Dupree"

The character was taken from their song.

Musical group Steely Dan is not happy with Owen Wilson and his new movie "You, Me and Dupree". Walter Becker and Donald Fagen of Steely Dan believe Wilson's character Dupree was stolen from their Grammy award winning song "Cousin Dupree" of 2001.

The song is about a freeloader who is staying at his aunt's house and starts to have feelings for his cousin. In the movie, "You, Me and Dupree", Wilson's character is also a freeloader, but he is staying with his newlywed friends played by Matt Dillon and Kate Hudson.

Becker and Fagen expected Wilson to personally apologize for his character. On July 19, Steely Dan held a concert in Irvine, Calif. and insisted on their Web site that he make an appearance. However, the night came and went with no Wilson.

The duo is disappointed and has written Wilson's brother Luke, who is in the upcoming movie "My Super Ex-Girlfriend," about this situation. They applaud Luke on his movies and for dealing with his brother Owen.

Owen Wilson is not known for taking criticism lightly. He recently defended his good friend Ben Stiller to New Yorker critic David Denby. Steely Dan does not want to hurt Wilson, "Let's just help Owen do what's right," they stated.
