Harry Potter goes nude for his West End debut

Harry Potter loses the wizard's robe and trades his broom in for a horse.

Daniel Radcliffe shot to stardom portraying literary hero Harry Potter in the four released "Harry Potter" films. Radcliffe is scheduled to shoot more films as the child wizard, but has apparently started his campaign to be seen as an adult actor by taking the role of the stable boy in "Equus," Peter Shaffer's controversial play about a boy's erotic relationship with a horse.

Seventeen-year-old Radcliffe will play Alan Strang, a disturbed young man, who blinds six horses with a metal spike, and in one scene will simulate sexual pleasure while riding a horse- naked. This may be a great opportunity for the young actor since the first actor to take this part on Broadway was Academy Award winner Sir Anthony Hopkins. "Equus" is one of the most successful plays in Broadway history.

Radcliffe is scheduled to open next March in the West End theater district.
