Fantasia Barrino shares her story
American Idol executive producer Ken Warwick is not happy with Idol winner Fantasia Barrino's Lifetime biography. "Fantasia: Life is Not a Fairy Tale" will air Aug. 19. However, in the meantime Warwick wants everyone to know they treated Barrino like everyone else.
The television movie suggests Barrino was asked to leave Idol because she did not represent an American role model. She was 19 at the time and a single mother with no high school diploma. For these reasons alone is why she wants to share her struggles with her fans and bring to light that life is not like a movie or a book.
Warwick claims that neither he nor Nigel Lythgoe, also an executive producer, would ever approach a cast member and ask them to withdraw because of personal issues as these.
"We knew she had a baby right from day one, and she was always strongly tipped to win the competition because she was so good," Warwick stated.
