Mel Gibson wants to meet with Jewish community
According to the Associated Press, Mel Gibson apologized Tuesday morning for making anti- Semitic remarks that took place after his arrest for drunken driving recently. Mel has been reported to ask for a meeting between himself and with members of the Jewish community to try to work things out and explain his actions.
"There is no excuse, nor should there be any tolerance, for anyone who thinks or expresses any kind of anti-Semitic remark," Gibson said in a statement. He also added he is also sorry for the harmful words that he had inflicted on the police officer the night he was arrested.
"I want to apologize specifically to everyone in the Jewish community for the vitriolic and harmful words that I said to a law enforcement officer the night I was arrested," he added.
The star-studded actor Mel Gibson had been pulled over by LAPD last Friday for speeding and was arrested on DUI charges. He is reported to have gone into a wild ranting session and said, "The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world."
"I'm not just asking for forgiveness. I would like to take it one step further, and meet with leaders in the Jewish community with whom I can have a one-on-one discussion to discern the appropriate path for healing," Gibson said according to reports.
For 1995's "Braveheart" Gibson won an Oscar for best film-director and had a 2004 religious blockbuster with "The Passion of the Christ." He has starred in movies such as "Lethal Weapon", "What Women Want" and "The Man Without a Face," to name a few.
