Kevin Costner rocks out in Field of Dreams

The star returns to Dyersville to perform with his band.

It's been 17 years since "Field of Dreams" opened in theaters and just as long since Kevin Costner, the film's star, has been in the Iowa town.

Costner will be there as part of the "Rolling Roadshow" tour organized by Netflix that will begin Aug. 11. Ten classic films will be played, including "Field of Dreams." Costner will be playing with his unnamed five-member rock band.

The band will perform a free concert of original tunes for audiences at the event that will be followed by a showing of the film.

Organizers of the event are excited to have Costner as part of the tour. "It's going to be a nice setup," said Keith Rahe, manager of the Left & Center Field of Dreams, a tourist attraction at the ballpark where the movie was filmed.

Costner has said returning to the location of the film "has special meaning for me...The movie was significant in my career and the band is an important part of my future."

The actor's band debuted at the BMW Pro-Am at The Cliffs gold tournament in April.
