Alice Cooper's "School's Out" days dismissed

Cooper says America "needs a good hypodermic needle shot of morality."

Cooper is building the 20,000 square feet center inside the Grand Canyon University's campus in West Phoenix because America "needs a good hypodermic needle shot of morality."

Alice Cooper is known as the founder of "shock rock" but has been a born-again Christian since 1990 when he quit drinking. Cooper is the father of three and has been married for 30 years "without cheating." Cooper has long since been concerned with children's causes and even organized the Solid Rock Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides college scholarships to Christian students.

"People don't lay in the sun in southwest Phoenix. There's lots of shootings going, there's lots of meth going on, there's lots of gangs," Cooper said. "In the middle of all that is a bunch of 12-, 13-, 14-year-old kids that can go one way or the other."

Cooper assures parents his on-stage image of theatrical stunts involving live animals was always intended as a farce and is not a representation of his current commitment to today's youth.

Construction will begin next year.
