Former Destiny's Child member No. 1 on charts

Debut album "Letoya" is No. 1 with 165,000 copies sold.

The name LeToya Luckett may not sound familiar, but you certainly know her.

The last time we saw Luckett she was dancing behind Beyonce Knowles and Kelly Rowland in 2000 and then suddenly not dancing behind the two stars as she and fellow band mate Latavia Roberson left the multi-platinum Destiny's Child. Rumors abounded and we still hear the occasional whisper about what really went down, but for Luckett that's all in the past.

Her self-titled debut album, "Letoya," made it to No. 1, selling 165,000 copies in its premiere week. Luckett enlisted producers Jermaine Dupri and Scott Storch for her stylistics inspired music. Aside from Luckett's strong vocals and sensuous tone, the album also boasts guest appearances by rappers Mike Jones, Slim Thug and Paul Wall.

Naturally, we're all wondering how Beyonce is dealing with her former band mate's success. Critics claim Knowles tried to oust her former partner's record sales by allowing pre-orders for her second solo album around the same time as Luckett's release. But Beyonce calls this nonsense and expresses her sadness over how people try "to stir up controversy where there is none."

The first single from "Letoya," "Torn" has been No. 1 on the Hot R&B charts for three weeks.
