Outkast makes final selections for soundtrack
The famous hip-hop duo Outkast has finalized their track lists for the soundtrack to its film "Idewild." Their alum is due to be released Aug. 22, which is three days before the film hits theaters nationwide.
The LaFace/Zomba soundtrack features guest appearances from Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg, Sleepy Brown and Macy Gray, among others. The first single from the soundtrack is "Mighty O" and was produced by Organized Noize and features Outkast principals Andre 3000 and Big Boi on the same track for the first time since 2000.
In the movie "Idewild" which is set in the 1930s, rapper Andre 3000 plays a guy named Percival who is a club piano player and Big Boi plays Rooster; the club's lead performer and manager. The film was written and directed by veteran music video director Bryan Barber. The movie also stars Terrence Howard, Faizon Love and Cicely Tyson.
"This is probably the first musical that didn't have the music done before it was shot," Andre 3000 recently told Billboard. "That has been the biggest lesson I've learned in this whole thing. Next time, we'll do the music first."
