Rock Star: Supernova Elimination Show Recap

The 10 are cut to nine...or are they?

The episode starts off with some footage of what happened after Tuesday's performances. Back at the house, a few of the girls get into a small argument, mainly Jill and Storm. Jill doesn't understand why no one would want to do the song with Gilby, yet she didn't do it either. She says it was because she already did a song with him, but I think she was too scared. Storm said she didn't because she wanted to do "We Are the Champions." She then goes on to say that she knows she can sing with Gilby and he knows it too. Oh, snap! The guys are off to the side giggling over the semi-cat fight.

It cuts back to live footage and Dave asks Storm about her Gilby comments. She says she could sing with him and wouldn't hump him onstage, like you know who. She then adds that this is because she'd break his back and it's not a threat it's just a question of physics. I love this girl! The band then informs the contestants that whoever makes the cut tonight will by flying with them to Vegas this week.

Now we get the encore, or should I say encores. The guys decide to have two encores and they choose Lukas and Magni. Lukas does a good job again and Magni changes his performance this time around. He doesn't play guitar and he has the house band play behind him; it has a much more rock feel to it. It was better the first time.

Brooke has the five people stand that were in the bottom three at some point in the night and they are: Zayra, Jill, Patrice, Josh and Ryan. Ryan is the only name I'm a bit shocked to hear. Brooke starts talking to Zayra and we assume she's in the bottom, but no...wait, she's safe! She's not in the bottom three again, folks.

The first person in the bottom three is Jill, and if you read my last column you'd know that was to be expected. She knows she needs to bring the rock if she wants to stay, so what does she choose to sing...Aretha Franklin's "Respect" huh? She does realize this is not "American Idol" right? She does well enough, but again, this competition is to be the lead singer of a rock band not Kelly Clarkson, who by the way did a much better version of the song season one of "American Idol." Josh is the next in the bottom. He sings "Shooting Star" by Bad Company. Tommy told him Tuesday he shouldn't have played the guitar onstage, so what does he do tonight...he plays the guitar onstage. Brilliant move! He sounds good on the song, but he didn't take their advice. So I assume Patrice is the last person in the bottom, but you people surprise me and vote Ryan in. I know the wig was scary, but he didn't sound bad and at least he's not boring. Whatever, I'll get over it. Ryan sings the Depche Mode's "Enjoy the Silence." He has a good voice, but he still looks awkward onstage. He's like Taylor Hicks, I'd rather watch him with my eyes closed and even then, I'd still rather listen to something else.

The group confers and decides Ryan deserves another chance and they tell him to sit down. The Hatchet Man then tells Josh and Jill that they're about to do a first...both are eliminated! I was so close to getting that right. I said two would be eliminated; I just got the wrong two. I think the double elimination might have something to do with not wanting to pay for an extra person on the Vegas trip.
