Mick Jagger takes up singing lessons

After 35 years of performing, the Rolling Stones lead singer has started taking voice coaching lessons.

After performing with the Rolling Stones for over three decades, frontman Mick Jagger says he has started taking professional lessons to keep his voice in top condition.

Jagger tells Britain's Virgin Radio that although he has never taken singing lessons since the band began in 1962, he now sees the benefit of getting professional help.

"Better late than never. I did a bit of voice coaching a couple of years ago, after 35 years with no voice coaching," the 63-year-old rocker says. "A bit of voice coaching and warm-ups really helps."

After experiencing it himself, Jagger recommends vocal lessons to other artists, saying he wishes he had started taking them sooner.

"I always tell these younger singers 'I never used to do it either but you should.' A lot of people have voice problems - not just older people, younger people too. I was speaking to Joss Stone and I mean you sing a lot, every night you are singing for hours and hours and your voice gets tired, like anything, like running every night, that's why you have to warm up properly. I just learnt that so that's probably helped me."

The Rolling Stones are currently traveling the globe on their Bigger Bang tour.
