William Shatner seeks club representative
Actor William Shatner, known primarily for his role as Captain Kirk on the "Star Trek" series, is holding an online contest to find the representative for the new William Shatner Science Fiction DVD Club.
The contest, which launched Friday, asks for contestants to submit short videotapes saying why they should be chosen to represent the new club.
"This is an opportunity for new faces and new voices in the science fiction world to be seen and heard," Shatner said. "Plus, this is a chance for passionate fans to be the first to discover the next M. Night Shyamalan or Brandon Routh, and help propel them into stardom."
After the clips are sent to shatner.blip.tv, finalists will be chosen by fans as well as a panel of seven judges selected by Shatner. The actor will then choose the winner himself.
Shatner will next appear as the target of a Comedy Central celebrity roast airing Aug. 20, featuring personalities such as Sharon Stone, Andy Dick and Betty White.
