Six is good for Tim Burton and Johnny Depp
The number six looks good for Tim Burton and Johnny Depp with "Sweeney Todd." Burton and Depp have worked together five other times with the last being "Corpse Bride." DreamWorks Studios and Warner Bros. will help Burton through this one with the co-production starting in February. The production will begin in London at Pinewood Studios.
"Sweeney Todd" is about a barber in Victorian London who is sent to jail on misleading evidence. The barber, who will be played by Depp, is determined to get his vengeance with the judge who sent him away. The musical of this mastermind was written by Stephen Sondheim and is currently being acted out on stage in New York.
According to AP, Tim Burton has brought together a wonderful cast with Colleen Atwood, who designed for "Memoirs of a Geisha," Dante Spinotti, who did cinematography for "L.A. Confidential," Walter Parkes who helped produce "Gladiator" and Laurie MacDonald who helped produce "Gladiator" and "Catch Me if You Can" with Parkes.
Burton is happy to be working with Depp once again, especially since his previous engagement, "Ripley's Believe It Or Not," with Jim Carrey went over budget going beyond $150 million. Although he is looking onward, Burton still has the movie with Carrey on the back burner of his mind.
