Wayans hopes new show "The Underground" earns two snaps up

Daman Wayans experiences the creative liberation of cable with new a sketch comedy show on Showtime.

Damon Wayans has gone full circle with his comedy career and back. From starting on sketch comedy shows portraying a homosexual film critic to becoming the ultimate family man in "My Wife and Kids," Wayans will now be airing skits with talking vaginas.

The Daily News described the sketch, "The Real Vagina Monologues" as similar to the Conan O'Brien show sketch that uses photos of celebrities with the mouthpart cut out and a comedian's mouth filling in the slot and providing the voice of the celebrity. Only this sketch is done from a "gynecologist's-eye view."

Wayans plans a wide variety of topics. The premiere episode has Wayans playing an ex-con brought to a friend's diner as part of a blind date, but ends up with the friend's grandmother. Future episodes include the sub-titled thoughts of women in a nail salon and Wayans playing an overzealous airport security screener.

"The Underground" premieres Thursday night on Showtime at 10 p.m.
