Ugly Betty Hits the TV on ABC

America Ferrera plays the ugly duckling named Betty, who has recently been recruited as assistant to the new editor in chief, Daniel Meade (Eric Mabius) for a top magazine. Salma Hayek is the executive producer of this comedy-drama.

Meade isn't exactly fond of Betty, but realizes he cannot fire her, so he tries to get her to quit on her own, by humiliating her. However, Betty continously tries to prove her worth to the over-eager editor.

Betty lives with her father played by (Tony Plana) and sister played by (Ana Ortiz). Ashley Jensen, from HBO's "Extras" plays Betty's new found friend. And we can't forget Vanessa Williams, who plays another insider at the magazine that is constantly competing with Meade.

"Ugly Betty" premieres Thursday, Sept. 28,on ABC right before "Grey's Anatomy," on its new night as well.
