Latin Recording Academy loves Shakira's "Oral Fixation"
The Latin Grammy Award nominations were announced Tuesday with Shakira taking the lead. The 29-year-old Colombian singer racked up six nominations for her Spanish language album, "Fijacion Oral, Vol. 1." Her hit single, "La Tortura," with Alejandro Sanz, which received airplay on both English and Spanish radio stations, is nominated for both song and record of the year. Ricardo Arjona, Gustavo Cerati and Julieta Venegas all received four nominations. Argentinean singer/guitarist Cerati is nominated twice for album of the year, for his album "Ahi Vamos" and as a producer of Shakira's "Fijacion Oral, Vol. 1." Three nods went to Chayanne, Calle 13, Fonseca, Gustavo Celis, Cachorro L?pez and Joan Sebastian while Cafe Tacuba, Cabos, Bebo Valdes, Maria Rita, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Diego El Cigala, Sergio Mendes, Ricardo Montaner and Alejandra Guzmßn each received two nominations.
The 7th Annual Latin Grammy Awards will air on the Univision network live from Madison Square Garden in New York on Nov. 2.
