ABC Orders More Episodes of Some New Shows While NBC Cancels One

ABC orders more of "Brian" and others while NBC axes "Kidnapped."

ABC has ordered four more episodes of the ABC drama "What About Brian," starring Barry Watson, who starred on the popular CW drama series "7th Heaven."

According to http://today.reuters.com, the Reuters web site, "'Brian,' a midseason entry last season, had received an initial order of 13 episodes for its second round. It has held on to more than 80% of its adults 18-49 lead-in from 'The Bachelor,' but has regularly finished third in the Monday 10 p.m. slot. However, two weeks ago, 'Brian' edged NBC's star-studded 'Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip' for the second place in the hour among adults 18-49."

"What About Brian" isn't the only show to be given the go ahead for more episodes. According to http://www.upi.com, the United Press International web site, "ABC...has placed orders for an additional four episodes for its freshman series -- such as 'The Nine,' 'Men in Trees,' 'Six Degrees,' 'Brothers & Sisters,' 'Ugly Betty' and 'Help Me Help You.'"

NBC hasn't had the same luck as ABC. The http://today.reuters.com article went on to say, "After three low-rated airings in its original Wednesday 10 p.m. time slot, serialized thriller 'Kidnapped' was moved to Saturdays where it ran for two weeks before the network yanked it on Tuesday." Yet fans of the show will be able to see eight yet unaired episodes of the thriller on NBC.com and, "There is a possibility for the eight episodes to get a second window on the network in some format, with a 'Kidnapped' marathon considered as an option. Production on its 13 episodes is slated to wrap next week."
