U2 Wins Legal Battle Against Stylist

U2 gets stolen items back.

Irish rock band U2 was victorious in their lawsuit against stylist Lola Cashman. The band claimed that their former stylist stole a bunch of the band's items while she worked with them on their Joshua Tree album and tour. Cashman claims that she was given the souvenirs as gifts for helping the band with their look. She was also accused of trying to sell the paraphernalia at a Christie's auction in 2002.

The items that she had in her possession were a Stetson hat, a pair of metal hoop earrings, a green sweatshirt, a pair of black trousers, a videotape and monitor, rosary beads, two mugs, Polaroid photographs, a Christmas decoration, and a photocopy of a handwritten U2 playlist. The band did not know that she had the items until 1992, when an employee went to her apartment to pick up some video equipment and saw the mementos. The band filed the lawsuit when she tried to put the items up for auction. Bono said that the band only gave away their souvenirs for charity or for exhibits.

Cashman was ordered to return the stolen goods, but was able to hold on to a pair of black Converse All Star high tops, which were given to her by the band's drummer, Larry Mullen Jr.
