Happy Feet Numbers Make Warner Bros. Feel Warm and Fuzzy
The producers of Happy Feet had plenty to be thankful for over Thanksgiving weekend, particularly the $51.5 million dollars it raked in, and edging Agent 007 himself for the #1 spot. Casino Royale, the latest James Bond flick, was absolutely no slouch making $45 million and a worldwide gross approaching record numbers. Both movies actually made the all-time Thanksgiving-weekend top five, but those undeniably cute digital penguins rule the roost for the second straight week. Rounding out the long-weekend top five were Dej? Vu ($29 million), a Denzel Washington action/thriller, Deck the Halls ($16.8 million), destroyed by critics, and Borat ($15.4 million), bringing Sacha Baron Cohen's vision up and over the $100 million threshold. It was disappointment for Jack Black and makers of Tenacious D in: The Pick of Destiny, as the film opened in 11th place with a $5.1 million take. The word is that the film had no penguins, leading to its bitter weekend.
