Comedy Gold: Will Ferrell and... Andre 3000?
OutKast member and actor will join Ferrell in new basketball comedy.
Musician-actor Andre Benjamin (Andre 3000 to OutKast fans) is joining the cast of a New Line comedy titled, Semi-Pro. The film centers around 1970s professional basketball, with Andre cast as one of the players on a fictional Flint Michigan Tropics team in the final year of the ABA. Also starring in the film will be Woody Harrelson, as another player on the team, and Will Ferrell (Anchorman, Old School, Talladega Nights) as an owner-player-coach of the team.
Benjamin's film credits already include Idlewild and Four Brothers. Jimmy Miller is producing and Kent Alterman is directing the film, which is scheduled to start shooting early next year.
