Prince Performing at Super Bowl XLI
11-Dec-2006
Written by: Dalip S. Sethi
Rock legend signed on to be the half-time show in February.
Flamboyant rocker Prince will be the half-time performer at this year’s Super Bowl in February. The big game is annually the most watched show on television, and will take place at Dolphin Stadium near Miami, FL. The half-time show has been under close scrutiny ever since 2004, when Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake were involved in the now-infamous “wardrobe malfunction.” In what was largely a gross overreaction, the FCC dramatically raised fines on indecent broadcast material.
Prince, now 48, has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and just recently received five Grammy nominations. The game will be televised Feb. 4th on CBS, likely drawing at least the 91 million U.S. viewers that tuned in to the last Super Bowl, which was held in Detroit.
