Courtney Love Free of All Charges

Courtney catches a break.
E! Online reports that Courtney Love's misdemeanor assault case and two drug possession cases were all dismissed by the Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday, after it was discovered that the rock star had successfully completed a drug rehabilitation program.
Courtney was seen weeping for joy alongside her manager, Peter Asher and her lawyer, Howard Weitzman. She told Judge Rand Rubin, "Thank you for not taking me into custody. Thank you for giving me an opportunity. You've been a good, fair judge. Sorry for crying."
The court ruling ended Love's probation a month early for the drug charges and more than a year early for the assault case.
Love had pleaded no contest to the February 2005 assault charge for attacking musician Kristin King in April 2004. King and her attorney, Gloria Allred, requested the judge maintain a restraining order against Love on Monday, but the request was denied.
Although the judge realized there is a possibility of Love relapsing, he stated, "Early on in this case, Ms. Love, I think you came very close to coming into custody. I think you've done very well. You've shown to me you are interested in a much less destructive lifestyle."
In September 2005, Love was also sentenced to 180 days in a live-in drug rehab facility after violating her probation for the cases. According to her progress report, she put a very gnarly drug habit behind and was "doing great."
Last month, Love made an appearance on Good Morning America and credited Mel Gibson for her sobriety, claiming the actor came to visit her at home several times with an addiction counselor.
A now sober Courtney Love of 16 months exclaimed, "I'm so happy and excited. I'm relieved. I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders."
