Actress Jada Pinkett Smith has made a generous donation of $1 million to her former school, Maryland's Baltimore School of the Arts. Reports indicate that Smith made the contribution through the Will and Jada Smith Family Foundation, specifically to benefit the school's theater program. She also made a concerted effort to have the renovations named after deceased rapper Tupac Shakur, who was a former classmate. Tupac died in a 1996 drive-by shooting in Las Vegas.
Despite her request, the school has chosen to officially name its new theater after Jada herself. The 35-year-old actress is, of course, married to Will Smith, and graduated from Baltimore School of the Arts in 1989.
