Author Announces Plans for Tell-All Oprah Biography
14-Dec-2006
Written by: Kevin Manahan
The book will be written by notorious expose author Kitty Kelley.
With a history of revealing the dirty secrets of Nancy Reagan, Frank Sinatra and the British royal family, author Kitty Kelley says she will work on a detailed biography on talk show superstar Oprah Winfrey over the next three years.
Kelley, who is known for her thorough investigations that often end up on the bestsellers lists, says she will get in touch with "hundreds of sources" for her upcoming expose.
"Oprah Winfrey has fascinated me for many years," the 64-year-old author says. "As a woman, she has wielded an unprecedented amount of influence over the American culture and psyche. There has been no other person in the 20th century whose convictions and values have impacted the American public in such a significant way."
Yet Kelley says the Oprah biography will not be as accusatory as her previous works, at least not with what she has researched thus far.
"So far, I don't see anything negative on this woman," Kelley tells the Washington Post. "I think she's a real icon...She's much more complex and complicated than just a talk show host. Maya Angelou has said she sees her as a true missionary. Everybody has a different take on Oprah."
