USA Wins Bidding for "Casino Royale"

Network will begin to air new James Bond film in summer of 2009.

USA is hoping its big bet pays off.

The cable channel outbid Spike TV, TNT, and FX to land the newest James Bond film, Casino Royale, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The movie has grossed around $400 million worldwide.

USA offered a five-year deal, worth about $20 million, according to the Reporter. The movie will begin airing on the network in June, 2009.

Casino Royale is the first Bond movie with Daniel Craig. It is also on pace to out-gross Die Another Day, the top grossing movie in the franchise.

The Bond movies have typically been strong performers on cable TV, according to the Reporter.
