Avril Lavigne Announces a “Bratty“ New Record
19-Dec-2006
Written by: Kevin Manahan

The punk princess will return with new music next year.

After a two-year break from recording, which included a marriage to Sum 41 singer, Deryck Whibley, and several forays into acting, rocker Avril Lavigne told fans to expect a "fast, fun, young" new album due next year.

"I promise you guys will LOVE this record, it is my favorite one!!! And I can't wait!!!!!" Lavigne wrote on her MySpace page.

Lavigne said the first single from The Next Dam (sic) Thing will be "Girlfriend," which will be released in February. Whibley is producing the album, featuring collaborations with songwriter Dr. Luke and producer Rob Cavallo.

"Because I am a touring artist and spend so much of my time playing live shows, I wanted to make sure the songs were fun," Lavigne said. "Fun for the fans and myself."

Lavigne appeared in this year's Fast Food Nation, starring Wilmer Valderrama, and lent her voice to the CGI animal flick, Over the Hedge.
