Crocodile Hunter’s Wife Accepts Life Time Achievement Award
15-Jan-2007
Written by: Cecilia Buckner

Terri Irwin, wife of the late "Crocodile Hunter," captured the attention of the audience at an annual event held in Los Angeles last night.

Irwin accepted the lifetime achievement award at the G'day USA ball on behalf of her late husband, Steve Irwin, who was killed by a stingray in September 2006.

Irwin was visibly emotional when she accepted the award, according to a Jan. 15 report in the Australian newspaper, the Herald Sun.

If Steve were alive, he would have been overwhelmed by the attention he received, she said.

Irwin said that although she was not accustomed to the formality of the event, she enjoyed dressing up.

"It is a very special night to celebrate,"? Irwin said.

Actor Russell Crowe, who was a good friend of the late Irwin, was also present at the event, according to the Sun's report.

"It was not so long ago that we were making plans to be here together . . . But that all changed,"? Crowe said.

Other well known celebrities at the event included Cate Blanchett, John Travolta and Naomi Watts.
