The results of yesterday's Golden Globe Awards

Yesterday, the 2007 Golden Globe Awards were presented, with Babel taking the award for best motion picture (drama). The best actor award went to Forrest Whitaker for his role in The Last King of Scotland and best actress went to Helen Mirren for The Queen.

Every year the H.F.P.A. gives the Cecil B. DeMille award to people who have greatly influenced show business. This year they honored Warren Beatty, thrusting him into the ranks of such stars as Lucille Ball, Alfred Hitchcock and Sydney Poitier.

Dreamgirls also ran away with a few awards, including best motion picture (musical or comedy), best actress in a comedy, Jennifer Hudson, and best actor in a supporting role (comedy), Eddie Murphy.

Martin Scorsese won best director for his gangster drama, The Departed. Other awards included Letters from Iwo Jima (Best Foreign Film) and Cars (best animated film).
