Paula Abdul Defends Her Rumored Drug Abuse

The American Idol judge that has come under criticism after rumors of her using drugs, defended herself, claiming that she has not been intoxicated at any time during the show. The speculation started last year after a few instances of Abdul speaking nonsensically and even slurring her words.

In reference to her time as a judge for American Idol, Abdul told the New York Times, "I've never been drunk, I'm not under the influence of anything."

Speculation continued after an interview for a Seattle television station this month, where Abdul was reportedly giving answers to questions that were never even asked of her. Abdul explained that the situation arose because the audio feed into her earpiece was broadcasting two separate stations.
