R. Kelly's Appendix Bursts

R. Kelly was forced to postpone his court date due to appendectomy.

R. Kelly was supposed to finally appear in court to face charges of numerous counts of child pornography, Wednesday, when he had to undergo an emergency appendectomy.

The singer was admitted to Miami's Jackson Memorial Hospital on Sunday when his appendix burst after performing at a Super Bowl Party.

Terence Gillespie, Kelly's attorney, said that he is scheduled to come home Feb. 9 and he is doing well.

Kelly's criminal case has dragged on for four years after a videotape surfaced that purportedly showed him having sex with a 13-year-old girl, but he has maintained his innocence. Defense and prosecuting lawyers could not agree on which pieces of evidence were admissible, according to E! Online.

Last summer the trial was postponed again after judge Vincent Gaughan allowed the video to be shown in court.

In addition, Kelly has been granted permission to travel out of state for business engagements.
