Live Earth to Fight Global Warming

Al Gore launches benefit to raise awareness.

Al Gore announced plans on Thursday to launch Live Earth, a concert to raise awareness on the global warming issue. Cameron Diaz and rapper Pharrell Williams were at Gore's side during the press conference.

Live Earth will take place on July 7, 2007 in a series of concerts around the world from London to Shanghai and Sydney to Johannesburg. There are even plans to play in Antarctica.

The goal is to reach as many people as possible to spring into action. Yusef Robb, spokesperson for Live Earth, said he keeps getting calls from mayors of several cities to play a concert.

"In order to solve the climate crisis, we have to reach billions of people," Gore said. "The climate crisis will only be stopped by an unprecedented and sustained global movement."

Dozens of bands have already signed up including the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Keane, Snoop Dogg, AFI, Fall Out Boy, Black Eyed Peas, Foo Fighters, Kelly Clarkson and Duran Duran.
