“300” Battles to Box Office Glory

“300” the number one film in America this past weekend

In its first week of release, 300 soared to the top of the box office, becoming 2007’s first blockbuster. It raked in $70 million, making it the highest three day gross since July when Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest was released. Last week’s number one film, the star studded Wild Hogs, dropped a spot to number two earning $28 million. Bridge to Terabithia moved up a spot from four to three with $6.9 million. Ghost Rider came in fourth making $6.8 million during the weekend. Last week’s number two film, Zodiac, is now fifth with $6.77 million. The Number 23 came in at six, followed by Norbit at seven. Music and Lyrics, Breach, and Amazing Grace closed out the weekend’s top ten films.
