American Idol - And Then There Were 12
13-Mar-2007
Written by: Ann Walsh

Diana Ross and the Top 12

Tonight on American Idol, we head into the real competition - the final 12; the get down and dirty part of it all. So we think. Traditionally, we have eliminated the worst of them. Last week, kind of. Finally, Antonella Barba met her fate. Her singing wasn't cutting it and her pictures could only carry her so far. But what about Sanjaya Malakar? How in the world did he manage to stay? Well, that's because every season there's a teenage male that sticks around because, well, quite simply said, there are a lot of teenage girls with cell phones who know how to text in those votes. Let's just hope their parents take control of their phones tonight so he cannot slip through the cracks once again. The kid can't sing - he's proven that. He is not worthy of Diana Ross' time, tonight's guest. It's almost embarrassing to think about it, quite frankly. The favorites right now are definitely the girls - LaKisha Jones who is consistent, and Melinda Doolittle, riding directly on her heels proving she's no longer a background singer. Watch tonight and be sure to get ready to vote -- unless you're a raging teenage girl, of course. In which case you should have an early curfew for bed tonight and your cell privileges denied. Just for one night. PLEASE!! Stay tuned for tomorrow's recap.
