Britney’s Bulimia Battle
13-Mar-2007
Written by: Jess Boettger

Pop princess has struggled with the eating disorder since age 16.

Pop princess Britney Spears has been suffering from bulimia since age 16. The singer recently told doctors at her rehab clinic that she has been binging and purging since the tender age of 16. Spears was forced to confess when the Promises Center’s staff caught her making herself throw up. The pop star revealed that the only time she was able to stop throwing up was during her pregnancy with her first son, Sean Preston. However, she also admits that she immediately relapsed after his birth in order to lose the baby weight.

This revelation also sheds light on why Spears has made so little progress in her treatment. The singer is taking medication for bipolar disorder, which causes drastic mood swings. But the pills were being thrown up with her meals, and thus unable to take effect, ultimately leading to such complications as her attempted suicide.

The doctors at the clinic have confronted Spears about her drastically unhealthy lifestyle. They also hope that this new information will enable them to truly help the singer, who has been reluctant to even remain at the clinic, but does so at the urging of her family.
