Birkhead Says Goodbye to His Lawyer

Larry Birkhead, one of the men who claims fatherhood to Anna Nicole Smith's baby, says goodbye to his prestigious Beverly Hills attorney who has represented him through his battle.

Attorney Debra Opri issued a statement Friday stating that she and Birkhead "have terminated [their] attorney-client relationship effective immediately."

"I wish Larry the very best of luck in his continuing efforts to prove that he is Dannielynn's biological father. My prayers will be with Larry and Dannielynn always," Opri said.

Opri did not say why she would stop her representation of Birkhead, and it is unclear who will replace her.

Birkhead, Smith's former boyfriend, claims paternity to 6-month-old Dannielynn. Opri had been very adamant about Howard K. Stern, Smith's former lawyer and partner, coming to California to take a paternity test to prove his paternity, as he is listed on Dannielynn's birth certificate as her father.

Stern currently resides in the Bahamas and has custody of Dannielynn.
