Archdeacon of Trinidad and Tobago Wants to Ban Elton John

Archdeacon fears flamboyant singer’s lifestyle will rub off on his people.
The Archdeacon of Trinidad and Tobago has issued a bizarre and decidedly homophobic request to the country. The archipelagic country’s Archdeacon, Philip Isaac, has expressed his fears that an upcoming visit from the flamboyant singer may tempt them into homosexuality. He told a Jamaican newspaper that “His visit to the island can open the country to be tempted towards pursuing his lifestyle.”
Sir Elton John is scheduled as the headliner for the Plymouth Jazz Festival, to take place in April on the island of Tobago.
Immigration laws of the island country make it legally possible for Isaac’s request to be granted. However, organizers for the Jazz Festival have not backed down, and stand firm that the singer will perform the closing act for the three-day festival on April 29th. They added that the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago should feel honored that the knighted pop star will perform there.
In addition to Elton John, other performers lined up for the festival include: Diana Ross, Mary J. Blige, LL Cool J and Gladys Knight.
