Anna Nicole's Autopsy Revealed

The former Playboy model's death is officially due to an accidental drug overdose.

Anna Nicole Smith's autopsy results were finally revealed to the public today. Her official cause of death is an accidental drug overdose. The results were delivered by Florida medical examiner Joshua Perper and the Seminole, Florida Police Chief, Charlie Tiger, at a press conference in Florida on Monday morning.

Perper said that Anna Nicole died of "combined drug intoxication." She took the sleeping medication, chloral hydrate, and at least eight other prescription drugs. Prescription drugs were found in the hotel room where Smith died, but no illegal drugs were present. Smith was taking methadone, valium, and a lengthy list of other medications. She also had a bacterial infection from injecting medication into her buttocks. That infection, as well as the flu, contributed to Smith's death.

Police Chief Tiger said, "We are convinced that this case is the result of an accidental overdose, with no other criminal elements present."

Anna Nicole died in a Florida hotel on February 8. She was just 39 years old. Her 20-year-old son, Daniel, died suddenly five months earlier in the Bahamas. The suspicious circumstances surrounding his death have led some to believe that there was foul play to blame for Daniel's and his mother's death.

An inquest into Daniel's death is scheduled to start on Tuesday in the Bahamas.
