Electronic Arts, Inc. launched a record label to better promote new artists.
Electronic Arts, Inc. announced Monday that they have launched a record label in a joint venture with Nettwerk One Music.
The new LA-based Artwerk label will sign new artists and promote them by putting their music in video games.
“For the past five years, EA has been instrumental in breaking new artists, but we have been limited in our ability to grow them. With Artwerk, we can now directly sign, develop and launch artists for publishing, master recordings, sync deals and beyond,” said Steve Schnur, worldwide executive of music and marketing at EA.
EA spokesperson Tammy Schachter said Nettwerk One Music is a publisher and digital distributor of music and would do that for Artwerk. EA would be in charge of marketing.
The first artist signed on the new label is Junkie XL, whose tracks have appeared in “Madden NFL 07" and “Need for Speed Carbon.”
