TODAY’s Vieira and Lauer attempt to garner information on the ending, from editor Arthur A. Levine.
To further whet the appetites of all the hard core fans of Harry Potter, TODAY provided viewers with a tantalizing glimpse of the final book’s jacket cover. Hosts Meredith Vieira and Matt Lauer also attempted to pry information out of the series’ American editor, Arthur A. Levine. An interview with Levine failed, however, to uncover any revelations about the book’s ending. Fans are wildly speculating on the grand finale of the series, with the belief that Harry, the series’ protagonist, will die, growing in popularity.
The book’s jacket is a colorful illustration of what appears to be a confrontation between the boy wizard and his mortal enemy, Lord Voldemort. On the front cover, Harry is depicted looking upward with his left arm raised, palm up. The scene wraps around to the back of the jacket, where Voldemort appears to be glaring malevolently at Harry, his long, pale fingered hands reaching for the protagonist.
When Vieira pressed Levine, the most he would reveal is that, “We do know that someone’s going to die.” Though TODAY hosts Vieira and Lauer attempted to establish whether it was someone readers care about or not, Levine would not budge, saying only that the book was a very emotional read for him and that he shed a few tears while reading it.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is the final book in the series by British author J.K. Rowling, and is due out in July.
