Sligh Says Bye Bye to “Idol“
29-Mar-2007
Written by: Courtney Thompson

Chris Sligh was voted off after a less than stellar performance.

The jokester with a mop of curls atop his head, who claimed that he was “bring chubby back,” was voted off American Idol Wednesday night.

Judges were less than impressed when Chris Sligh, of Greenville, SC, was unable to keep up with the band during his rendition of the Police song, “Every Little Thing She Does is Magic.” Simon Cowell called the performance “a mess.” In fact, he predicted it was “bye-bye curly,” when he was voted into the bottom three before the final results were in.

Haley Scarnato and Phil Stacey joined Sligh in the bottom ranks of contestants. Stacey was able to save himself with the Police’s “Every Breath You Take,” on Tuesday, which even warranted positive praise from Cowell.

Although visibly dejected after learning of his demise, Sligh left the stage of Idol after singing an upbeat “Magic” and hugging all of the remaining contestants.
