Show Brings Record Numbers
Justin Timberlake was pretty much the center of attention at Nickelodeon’s 20th Annual Kids' Choice Awards, as well as receiving the award for Best Male Singer. And if you were wondering, yes, JT as well as many others were victimized to the green slime.
After a large dose of slime soaked Timberlake on stage, attendees Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan joined him onstage for the show’s opening song-and-dance number. Mandy Moore was also targeted as Timberlake performed. During his song, he gave her a shout-out and subsequently was doused by a few buckets of slime while she was sitting in her seat.
The first person to receive an award was 13-year-old Dakota Fanning, who edged out Sarah Jessica Parker, Keira Knightley and Halle Berry for Favorite Female Movie Star.
Ben Stiller received the Wannabe award which goes to the celebrity who the kids most want to be like; Best Female Singer went to Beyoncé; Music Group went to Black Eyed Peas; Best TV show went to American Idol; Best Cartoon was Spongebob Square Pants; funny man, Adam Sandler took home the blimp for Favorite Male Movie Star. The biggest award of the night went to Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest for Favorite Movie.
“According to the emcee, more than 40 million youngsters texted their picks or voted online for their favorite movie, music, TV and sports stars, which became an all-time record number of votes for the award show.”
