Shots Fired at Nickelodeon Awards After-Party
1-Apr-2007
Written by: Jess Boettger
Three people injured in shooting; gang involvement suspected.
Early on Sunday morning, gunfire broke out at a teen party following the Kids Choice Awards. The Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards were held March 31st, and at an after-party, attended by 200 teenagers, shots were fired around 12:30 a.m.
The party was not an official Nickelodeon-sponsored event, and it is reported that there were no celebrity guests in attendance. Police believe that the chaos broke out when a group of five were refused admittance to the rented drapery store for the celebration. It is believed that gang members were involved with the incident. Apparently, at least one person drew a weapon on the crowd when their group was turned away.
There were three victims hit below the waist, but no fatalities. It is reported that the three injured did not sustain life-threatening injuries and were taken in for care.
Nickelodeon’s award show was hosted by Justin Timberlake and broadcast live on Saturday night.
