Hilary Duff Speaks Out
2-Apr-2007
Written by: Jess Boettger

Teen actress talks about pressure to be thin, relationships.

Hilary Duff is speaking out about the pressure placed on stars to be thin. Though Duff denies ever having problems with her weight, she does admit that media criticism can be “judgmental and mean.” She told “People” magazine that the media is constantly accusing her of being either too skinny or too fat. She also acknowledges that those with insecurities about their weight and appearance can be very hurt by comments, whether they’re coming from the press or everyday life. The 19-year-old actress concludes however, that “you’ll never make them happy.” Duff, who has recently pursued her passion for singing, has sold more than 30 million albums around the world. Her latest album is set for an April 3rd release date, entitled, “Dignity.” Though Duff dislikes discussing relationships with the media, she apparently doesn’t mind singing about them. Several of the songs on the album deal with her relationship with Joel Madden, whom she is no longer seeing. Madden is a member of the band Good Charlotte.
