Chocolate Jesus Angers Catholics

A mass milk chocolate sculpture of Jesus has caused display to be deterred.
A sculpture, measuring 1.8m and weighing 90 kilos, of Jesus Christ, which also depicts him naked and made of milk chocolate, has caused a mass protest when a gallery in the Roger Smith Hotel in Midtown Manhattan planned to put it on display for two hours a day during Holy Week.
Bill Donohue, president of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights, said the sculpture, aptly titled “My Sweet Lord,” is “an all-out war on Christianity,” and “one of the worst assaults on Christian sensibilities ever.”
Matt Semler, artistic director of the Roger Smith Hotel said, “For me, this is done a place of reverence and meditation - that's why I chose the piece. This is not intended to be disrespectful.”
The hotel will not be displaying “My Sweet Lord,” and the artist, Cosimo Cavallaro, is storing it in a refrigerated truck in an undisclosed location due to safety issues.
“They're not allowing themselves to open their hearts,” said Cavallaro, referring to protesters. “If it makes them feel better, I'll ask for their forgiveness and do ten Hail Mary’s, but they should just lighten up and be more accepting of people.”
