Chan’s new show “The Disciple“ will find the next kung fu sensation.
One of today’s well-known actors in Hollywood, Jackie Chan, has launched his own Chinese television reality show called The Disciple, which is targeted towards discovering new kung fu talent.
"A lot of actors are good at fighting, but (their style) is not beautiful," Chan said while attending a ceremony in Beijing for the skein. "If you can incorporate dance with an ability to perform kung fu, that would be better."
Winning this competition isn’t going to be an easy task for anyone, simply because, according to the action star, more than 100,000 people have already signed up to try out for the show.
The skein is produced in a joint effort, by Beijing TV, JCE Entertainment, Hong Kong-based Emperor Entertainment Group and the China Film Group. The show is scheduled to run from March to October, with the final competition set to be shot at the Great Wall, right near Beijing.
The 10 chosen winners for the show will then appear in a movie to be produced by Chan. Chan also added that the final picks will be released to the public, just before the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
