Edward Norton to Transform into Incredible Hulk
16-Apr-2007

“Fight Club“ actor will take on reboot of “The Hulk.“
Ang Lee’s 2003 Hulk was too touchy-feely and not enough about what really matters in the Hulk’s world: smashing stuff. So the critics have spoken, and apparently French director Louis Leterrier agrees. The Transporter and Jet Li’s Unleashed veteran is well-qualified in the area of destroying everything on-screen.
The 2008 production is being billed as a “reboot,” not a sequel. That means actor Eric Bana will not be back for another go-around as the volatile Bruce Banner/Incredible Hulk. In his stead, Leterrier has chosen to cast Edward Norton. Though he has recently been seen primarily in independent—decidedly not blockbuster—films, Norton has proven he can play simmering anger (Fight Club) and intensity (American History X), and is expected to bring his considerable talent to the role. Norton is considered by some to be one of the most versatile actors that Hollywood has to offer, and Leterrier has promised that his “rebooted” Hulk will be much more fun than Lee’s. The screenplay, written by Zak Penn (Fantastic Four, Elektra, X-Men), starts off with a bang as Banner flees from authorities, simultaneously searching for a cure for his green alter-ego condition. Leterrier’s The Incredible Hulk is shooting for “high-octane,” Marvel Studios reveals, with none of the overly dramatic, psycho-analytical approach which is cited as the reason for Lee’s film’s flop.
